Here is an excerpt of her personal journey:
It was just before my eleventh birthday when I got the news that changed my life.
I had cancer.
I didn’t understand how this could happen to me… I had always been a healthy, carefree kid. My life consisted of homeschool, church, singing, acting, dancing, and hanging out with our family of 7. None of us could have seen this coming.
“It’s like we’re walking around, asleep,” Paige says. “Something in my generation keeps us in a near-trance. Our music is defeatist. Our entertainment says we’re irrelevant. We’ve forgotten that each of us is created with purpose, to do and be in such a way that the world is changed for us having been here. My heart’s desire is to be a catalyst that awakens and enlivens my generation.”

My Thoughts: Paige gives us a personal account at the tremendous obstacles she faced as a young girl growing up and battling cancer. It was through this journey she has been inspired to reach out to the youth of this generation and wake them up to realize the purpose and calling on their lives. In her book, Wake Up Generation she gives insight to issues such as overcoming boredom for teens, stepping out of your comfort zone and allowing God to lead and direct you, no more compromising, being real, letting the light of Christ shine through you, friendships gained and lost, knowing and discovering your purpose, creating your mission statement exercise, what are my gifts and so much more.
Each chapter is filled with encouraging words from the Bible, her personal experiences and encounters with people along the way. The end of every chapter includes an Action Challenge along with questions throughout the book. Wake Up Generation would be a great book for a book club as well as a personal study time companion. I really enjoyed reading this book and gaining insight to discovering what my true purpose and calling is.
