Hmmm, let me see. That is a tough one! I heard about blogging around 2007 and I thought originally that is the craziest thing in the world. Why would anyone want to tell the whole world their personal business. Mind you this is before any of the social media was a buzz on the world wide web (at least to my knowledge back then). This was a time where there weren’t too many options for hosting, a select number of templates to choose from and which platform would you use to host your blog, let alone acquire a domain.
I became interested in writing a blog around 2008-09, because I started a natural bath and body business (back when it wasn’t very popular), then when the economy shifted and I closed down my small online business. A new trend starts (it is suddenly cool to make natural bath and body products) with everyone else starting the same type of business and boom the natural bath and body business sprouted by leaps and bounds. I used to run a blog on blogger and I had a twitter account. That was the extend of my knowledge-base in regards to blogging.
I originally started blogging to list sales, events and new products and these posts help generate leads and sales for the business back then. Now I blog because I love to write, I don’t always have as much dedicated time as I would like. I blog for me, this is my way of putting my thoughts down on paper. I am with little ones all day, so for me this is my personal time to connect, network and communicate with the outside world.
Over the years I have learned valuable information, tools, tips, lessons and resources that will help my blog and following to grow. I have learned that people are actually interested in what I have to say and that speaks volumes to me. All of the topics that I considered to be off limits are making headlines in the media and in the blogging world (who knew, right!). I am proud to be among a great group of men and women who are not afraid to step outside of their comfort zone and allow themselves to become transparent and vulnerable while sharing their stories. I applaud you all, because it is not always easy for some of us to peel away the layers and expose our true selves. It is really easy and safer to hide behind the screen and not reveal your true self. Blogging is a way for me to let those creative writing skills flow.
