Hello and Welcome to *The Diva’s Corner {Relationships, Girl Talk, Real Talk}*
Session 1 – Notes on a Relationship
In the last post or blog intro I mentioned a few topics that we will be covering in this Blog Series.
Let’s recap – The first couple of episodes will focus on women and being healthy spiritually, mentally and physically, relationship issues, friendship woes, girl talk and keeping it real.
How many of us have been in an unhealthy relationship? Raise your hand, Yeah You! Let’s be real. You saw the red flags and warning signs, but you proceeded anyway. Can I ask you why? We will touch on the possible why answers later…
We have all been bruised, hurt and burned by relationships that were meant to tear us apart and bring us down. If you’ve been in a relationship you knew wasn’t healthy, but yet you stayed anyway you’ve felt:
- worthless
- lonely
- abandoned
- depressed
- isolated
- alone
- abused
- desolate
- fearful
- betrayed
- not good enough
Did I miss any?
When we feel devalued we attract the wrong people into our lives, we attract the wrong types of friendships and relationships.
You know about this one, that one “Toxic Relationship“, you just can’t seem to let go of. He/She tells you they love you, but their actions speak differently. It is unhealthy for you, your children (if they are involved and most likely they are caught in the middle of all the drama), believe me children pay attention to much more than we give them credit for.
Anyway, what about that “Toxic Friendship”, you know all about so and so, he/she has so much drama going on in their lives, they are polluting yours and bringing you down right along with them. Sometimes we need to just let them be and move on. How many people have ended up in harmful and dangerous situations following behind that one friend who should know better? Against your better judgement you follow right along behind them and their mess.
Stop it People, you are better than this! (Not trying to fuss, just keeping it real, Okay!)
If you are constantly bouncing from relationship to relationship and you are still attracting the wrong friendships and relationships, maybe it’s time to look inward.
Ask yourself, why are these people in my life?
Here are a few Notes on a Relationship:
- You should not feel depleted of all your spiritual, mental, emotional or physical self
- Relationships are supposed to be Healthy and Beneficial
- They should add value to you as a person
- There should be open-ended communication between parties involved
- Mutual Respect – Respect one another
- Trust – You must be able to trust each other
- Love – If you don’t have love, you don’t have anything!
- Compassion and Consideration – Be Selfless, put yourself in the other persons place
- Relationships should be fun and exciting (within your own relationship)
Well, enough is enough for now. I don’t want to overwhelm you in the first session. Stay tuned for the next session, next week!
What did you think about this post? Can you relate, what are your experiences with relationships or friendships?
Until Next Time…
Blessings
