Reclaiming Myself

April 9, 2019

I am finding my way back to myself. I am slowly returning back to the things that I used to do. Remembering and rediscovering myself is not an easy thing. Call it selfish or whatever you want, it doesn’t matter.

We often lose ourselves in the roles we have given ourselves. As a busy mother – we spend all of our time raising our children, caring for our homes, tending to our spouses and whatever other tasks we have given ourselves on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. As women we are often the last to care for ourselves and we put the needs of others before our own.

So to remedy this, I started thinking more about who I am and why am I important. Instead of sabotaging my time (by not accepting the breaks when they are given/needed), I have learned to take them often and without all the mom-guilt (you know – how we talk ourselves out of going or buying something for ourselves). Why do we do this to ourselves? Do we feel that we are not worthy or deserving?

Of course we are – so totally deserving and worthy, but in the midst of caring for everyone else we neglect ourselves, our health, mental well being, our fitness, our peace and the list goes on… When I entered my forties (Yes, hard to believe I am in my forties, Right – Right?), it was like a new awareness or awakening in my mind, body and spirit. I still feel very young at heart and youthful, but my body is feeling a lot of new aches and pains, joint pain – just to name a few.

So I started thinking about what steps I could take toward taking better care for myself – here are a few ideas I wrote down:

  • Devotional or Quiet Time
  • Write in a Journal
  • Read your favorite novel
  • Go for a walk/gym or exercise
  • Treat yourself to something new
  • Self-care services (massage, manicure/pedicure, hair services)

I am already actively doing many of the items on this list, but for those of you who don’t know where to begin, this is a good start. If you have any ideas or suggestions for self-care, please feel free to share and leave me a comment below.

Until next time write a list of the things that bring you joy and happiness, start small and set obtainable goals for yourself.

Be Inspired,

The Tickled Diva

Valentines Day Weekend - When hubby surprises you with a beautiful bouquet of roses! 😍

I remember when we were first dating my hubby brought me 2 dozen red roses sitting in a frosted rose vase. I still have that vase!

The roses were so beautiful! He set the bar really high - roses just because! He has been consistent even after 21 years of marriage! Thank you hubby! Love you!😍😘❤️

What is your “Morning Routine”?

I write these things down as a reminder of the things I need to be doing every morning when I wake up.

Most days I am successful and I check off every single one! Some days I don’t get it all done.

The funny thing about being consistent is that it requires action. We can right lists all day and never follow a single thing on it.

Consistency equals discipline!

What are you doing with your time?

We are all given the same amount of time. How productive are you with the time you have been given?

Are you walking in your purpose and calling?

Just a friendly reminder, myself included to be intentional with the time that we have been entrusted with.

Every day is a new start!

“Amplify your own voice” 🗣

Create your own space - Social Media has provided you the opportunity to speak and to elevate your voice about cultural topics, opinions, experiences and everything that you are passionate about.

Use your space to encourage, empower and educate the next generation.

How will you amplify your voice in 2021?

How consistent are you? #consistency2021

When I signed up for this challenge, my goal was to be more consistent with posting and creating content.

If I don’t have a plan in place - consistently posting will be non-existent. This is definitely a challenge, but I am trying my absolute best to show up every day. We can do this!
