How important are book covers in getting you to read a book?
The question is, who still reads an actual book nowadays? Honestly, I still do. I love the feel of the binding of the book and the different textures of the cover especially if the print is raised or smooth. I like turning the pages and sometimes folding the corners down if the book contains information I want to reread later. I am an avid reader and I just like holding the book in my hands, leaving the book turned face down to mark my page if I am interrupted, I like to sit in a comfortable space with a cup of tea and just read away.
To answer the above question, if I find a book that may not have an appealing cover I usually read the inner flap or the back cover to get an idea of what the book will be about. Scanning the inner pages also gives you additional information about the book and may influence you to purchase the book. If the cover is appealing and the mini excerpt and back cover information are interesting, more than likely I would purchase the book.
What are your thoughts?
I look at the cover when purchasing a new book however I also always read the description written at the back of the book as well. I do not read as much as I used to in books. I mostly read from the internet these days.

Hello Bismah,
I agree, in most cases the description is what sells the book even more than the book cover. The cover might not even relate to what the content of the book is about. The cover and book description would have to hold my interest in order for me to purchase it. Thank you for stopping by and following, nice to meet you!
I know it’s horrible to say but I always find a new book by it’s cover. I love the cover of books. Sometimes iI will buy a book just for it’s cover. I found my favorite series that way. Kindles are great but there is nothing like a good book collection you can see/feel.
Hi Leslie,
Trust me it is not a horrible thing to find a book based on its cover, sometimes that is the only selling point of the book. I have found a few books in the past that had really awesome illustrations only to be disappointed that the book was not a good read. I used to read e-books in the past, but I am old school and I still like to fold down the corners on a page if it’s something I really want to remember. I also like to hold the actual book and turn the pages. Thanks for stopping by. Take care!
