Title: Love Changes Everything
Author: Micah Berteau
Genre: Christian Living/Spiritual Growth
In the book Love Changes Everything – Micah Berteau breaksdown the relationship between Hosea and Gomer and the relevance of how their relationship resembles our relationship with God. That despite how messed up we really are, how many times we fall back into sin, the number of times we turn our backs away, the countless times we all try to do everything our own way – God is still there and has always been there loving us, waiting for us with open arms to surrender our hurts, brokenness, fears, insecurities, our hearts and souls to Him.
Here are a few excerpts from the book:
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8)”
” Love never gives up, Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut.
Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always ‘me first,’
Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always, Always looks for the best,
Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. (1 Cor. 13: 4-7)’
Love Changes Everything covers a story of a boy who felt like he was unloved, the meaning of Love, God’s character and how He loves us, how individuals can discover their purpose, ways to improve your relationship with God if you choose to and so much more.
My thoughts:
In today’s society the word Love is often misused and is loosely spoken in meager attempts for superficial means. The value of love and the word love has diminished greatly and it doesn’t hold the same weight that it used to in times past.
That was not always the case – The true definition of Love as God defines it has so much greater value and worth that have yet to be realized. Love is the basis for everything. It is the definition of the very core and character of who God is and what He exemplifies. Love.
In Micah’s book he shows a biblical example of God’s unconditional love for us, with present day examples versus biblical references marking the similarities and differences between relationships. I believe it will challenge your way of thinking and/or your thoughts about the word Love. The book was engaging, thought provoking and easy to read with scriptures and biblical references throughout.
